Orbie

A financial wellness experience where a virtual companion grows alongside the user's learning, habits, and goals.

Cursor Hackathon Singapore · 18 October 2025

Problem and Context

Financial learning can feel distant from everyday habits. We built Orbie to make progress tangible through a companion, small learning activities, and rewards tied to milestones.

User Flow

  1. Meet the virtual companion and explore financial learning activities.
  2. Complete lessons and work toward personal goals.
  3. See progress reflected in rewards and the companion's growth.
  4. Return to the next recommended activity and track milestones.

Design and Architecture

The mobile focused prototype brings together financial education assisted by Gemini, progress tracking, and a companion interface. The technical design covers React, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion, Three.js, Supabase, and PostgreSQL.

Team and Coverage

Built by Richard Lee and Amanda Lau Shernin. Orbie was featured in CNBC's coverage of the hackathon.

In the article, I described the build as a personal challenge to see what we could complete within 24 hours and how far AI assisted coding had advanced.
